“To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream; not only plan, but also believe.” – Anatole France
Yes. I am a month+ late. I am well aware….. But I think it is important to develop goals after the initial “shock” of January 1st. Don’t you have a different attitude then you did ‘way back’ then? 35 days ago could’ve been different than today. Just saying. So, I just wanted to pop in as a quick reflection of your goals. If you set them. If you didn’t, it’s not too late. Let’s call them goals. Not resolutions.
A friend of mine asked me a few weeks ago if I accomplished my goals for 2012. I laughed out loud and wanted to shout a few expletives during this “are you freakin’ kidding me” laugh. But I didn’t want to snap. It was a fair question after all. December happens to be the month we all look back on our year and rate our success of accomplishing the goals we set back in January 12 months earlier.
I gotta say my goals were going great until March. And from the day my father passed, it had been more of a “survival” mode then trying to accomplish anything. Most of the time it is two steps forward, one step back. Or 4 steps back? Anyways, right when I felt myself getting into a groove, there would be a setback. Guess that is called the “road of life”. There is that famous quote:
experience is not what happens to you; it’s what you do with what happens to you. – Aldous Huxley
And now I move forward, trying to make lemonade out of lemons.
2013 will be a fresh new year. The past won’t be forgotten, yet the future needs to become promising once again.
Whether you hit an all time low for 2012 or had your best year ever, time to get ready for a powerful 2013. Set goals. And start crossing off that list with success. Remember – one day at a time!
